CNERS STATEMENT ON CLIMATE STRIKES

The Department of Classical, Near Eastern and Religious Studies stands in solidarity with the students, staff and faculty at the University of British Columbia and worldwide who will participate in the Global Climate Strike on September 27, 2019, to demand urgent action on the climate emergency. The Department and its instructors resolve to accommodate, wherever possible, and not apply penalties for missed class or work to students or staff who wish to participate on September 27. The Department invites the CNERS community to join a rally that will take place on Friday September 27 at 11:00am at the AMS Nest, to be followed by a bus and bicycle convoy to a rally at Vancouver City Hall at 1:00pm and a march from there to downtown Vancouver.
