Research Interests

My current research is focussed on the historian Herodotus with particular emphasis on

  1. the types of anger he portrays,
  2. his interest in names as a measure of fame,
  3. the pattern of triads that abound in his work.

Other areas in which I have work in progress includes

  • Aeschylus’ use of etymologies of proper names
  • verbal abundance in Aristophanes
  • and the history and cultural significance of the bear in antiquity
